About Caitlin Howlett
Editorial photography for spaces worth remembering
I capture not just how a space looks, but how it feels — the flow of light, the texture of surfaces, the details that invite pause, and the unique story behind the design.
Hi, I’m Caitlin.
Your space isn’t just a physical environment; it has a story. I translate the magic you’ve crafted — from its design and functionality to its atmosphere — into images that communicate that story and invite others to step into your vision. My work sits somewhere between documentation and storytelling, revealing what makes each project meaningful. I focus on the quiet dialogue between design choices, refined details, and the interplay of natural light — capturing the essence of a space and the intention behind it.
My background
Before I became an interior and architectural photographer, I completed a PhD in psychology and pain science, and I continue to work in behavioural science research. My years in research have given me a deep understanding of how our perceptions shape our experiences and how environments influence the way we feel, move, and engage with the world. This dual perspective — as both researcher and photographer — informs the way I see, and photograph spaces.
For me, photography for me isn’t a hobby; it’s a professional practice that bridges my understanding of human perception with my passion for design, creating images that are intentional, considered, and deeply resonant.
Based in Adelaide, I work with architects, interior designers, builders, and luxury accommodation brands across South Australia.

What I love
Summer drives in my Troopy
Windows down, playlists on repeat, and somewhere between “are we lost?” and “best detour ever.”
Bookworm (sort of)
Always juggling a stack of half-finished books, coffee in hand, and occasionally forgetting what day it is.
Retail therapy
Not just buying things - it’s reconnaissance for future inspiration. Also doubles as cardio.
